A lot of homeowners want propane but don't want a bulky above-ground tank eating up their yard. It's a real trade-off - until you go underground. That's exactly what we did here, and the end result is a completely open, usable backyard with zero visual clutter.

We excavated the area by hand and machine to get the hole sized right for a 500-gallon underground propane tank. That's a big dig in a residential backyard, and it takes precision. Too shallow and you've got compliance issues. Too tight and you can't properly bed and backfill around the tank. We've done enough of these to know the difference.

Underground tanks like this one are a smart long-term solution. You get the full storage capacity you need for whole-home heating, a gas range, a generator - whatever you're running - without giving up yard space or looking at a tank every time you step outside. Once it's buried and the grass grows back, it's just... gone.

The excavation work on something like this has to be clean. The trench needs clean walls, proper depth, and the tank has to be set level and secured before backfill starts. That's where our grading and excavation experience really matters - it's not just about digging a hole, it's about doing it right so the tank sits exactly where it needs to.

If you've been thinking about making the switch to propane or upgrading your current setup, going underground is worth a serious look. It keeps your property looking sharp and gives you reliable capacity without the eyesore.
