Some yards just need a full reset. Patchy weeds, exposed rocks, uneven ground - it's the kind of mess that regular lawn care can't fix. You have to go back to the beginning and build it up the right way.

That's exactly what we did here. The starting point was rough - weedy, rocky, and uneven with bare spots throughout the yard. No amount of overseeding on top of that would have done the job. So we started from scratch. We regraded the area to correct the grade, brought in quality loam to give the soil the structure and nutrients it needed, and then finished everything off with hydroseed.

Hydroseeding is one of the most effective ways to establish new grass over a large area. The slurry - a mix of seed, mulch, fertilizer, and water - gets sprayed evenly across the prepared soil and bonds right to the surface. It holds moisture better than dry seeding, resists erosion on slopes, and gives seed the best possible environment to germinate. For a yard like this one, it was the right call.

The result is a clean, uniformly covered surface ready for grass to come in strong. The teal-green color you see is the hydroseed mulch - it's completely normal and actually helps track coverage so nothing gets missed. Underneath that, the seed is already in contact with fresh loam and set up to grow.

When a lawn has been left in bad shape, skipping steps never works out. Getting the grade right, using good soil, and applying hydroseed properly - that's what gives you a yard that actually comes back healthy and stays that way.
